What started with two ducklings is now a homestead and rescue.
Hi, I’m Taylor. Around here you’ll find Pekins, Swedish, Cayugas, Rouens, and Muscovies, along with Tamuk rabbits, fish, turtles, a pittie, and a Maltese with very strong opinions about everyone else.
I share mornings here, educational content, the drop-offs that somehow keep arriving, and a few deadlift sessions in between. Welcome to the chaos, I’m glad you’re here.
Who lives here
The homestead- The ducks
- We have a lot of ducks, too many to name, so you have to meet them through my videos. Mostly Pekins, some Swedish, one Cayuga, one Rouen, and a Muscovy. The number and the types fluctuate depending on why they are here. Ducks that were surrendered to me spend the rest of their days here, so their previous owners can visit. Ducks that were dumped usually move on to other homesteads that can give them more quality time.
- The rabbits
- Two Tamuk does, Tulip and Marigold, for our breeding and meat program. It has not been decided yet whether they will work out for the program or not.
- The ponds
- This one is complicated. Our two acres came with two small ponds that hold whatever finds its way in: tadpoles, frogs, yellow-bellied turtles. There is also a large pond taking up about a quarter of the property. It filled in November of 2025, but it has been dry through all of 2026 because of the drought. I am writing this in September of 2026, when it has rained nearly every day and it still has not filled, so right now it is more of a wetland. On top of that I have a 500 gallon above-ground pond with some rescues in it: an oscar, some silver dollars, and some plecos. I am moving them into my 75 and 125 gallon tanks so the big pond can go to the ducks.
- The dogs
- Wifi is my Maltese, with me since my family got him as a puppy over ten years ago. He is my childhood anxiety ball, perfectly behaved if I am there and otherwise the worst. Bad enough that a house needed renovating because he wrecked it (sorry, Barbara’s family). I always wanted to adopt a pittie from the shelter, and I finally talked my boyfriend, now husband, into getting Wifi a brother to help with the separation anxiety. They turned us down for the dog we wanted, as they should have, because he did not get along with men or other dogs. So the shelter offered us Cannoli and told us he does not bark. He has found his voice since then, and it is like he is making up for lost time. Now they both have separation anxiety.
- The gym
- The other half of the name. Deadlifts mostly, and I love martial arts. Strength is what carries the bags, the water, and the occasional uncooperative animal. A lot of the time that means getting Cannoli into the bath.
